Frequently Asked Questions

The CPP Program is the JIB’s CardioPrevention Program. It is an easy, painless and harmless way to quickly find out if you are at greater risk for a heart attack or other complications of hardening of the arteries. Stopping atherosclerosis as early as possible gives you the best chance for a longer, healthier life free of many problems atherosclerosis causes most people who do not take action.

The Medical and Optical Departments are available six days a week Monday through Saturday, for Scheduling appointments.

 

Appointments can be made: 

Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM to 7:15 PM  

Saturday: 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM

Please Note: Not all services are available at all hours or every day.  

Examinations are scheduled:

Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM

Last physical exam scheduled no later than 6:00 PM, other visits no later than 6:30 PM.

 

Optical Department

 

Appointments can be made:

Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM to 7:15 PM

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:45 PM
Wednesday: 10:00 AM to 6:45 PM

Urgent Care centers are available to assist patients with an illness or injury that does not appear to be life–threatening, but cannot wait until the next day or for primary care doctor to see them.  Urgent Care Centers provide easy access for the days and hours that primary care physicians are closed or unavailable.

Evaluaide or Health Buddy is MagnaCare’s care management program designed to evaluate the overall health of a plan population and identify participants who have, or are at risk for developing, common and costly chronic health conditions. The identified participants are invited and encouraged to enroll in the program to help them improve their health. The goal is to develop a healthier population over time.

 

Health Advocate is available to you at no cost as your very own personal help with your healthcare needs. Health Advocate is a valuable benefit provided by the Pension, Hospitalization and Benefit Plan of the Electrical Industry (PHBP) to help you and your entire family to  navigate the healthcare system and maximize your healthcare benefits. Our comprehensive service will help you with clinical and administrative issues involving your medical, hospital, vision, dental, pharmacy and other healthcare needs.

The staff is specially trained to handle each case with the utmost confidentiality. They follow careful protocols that comply with all governmental privacy standards to ensure that our participants’ medical and personal information is fully protected and held confidential. Just like all other health and assistance programs, your privacy is of paramount importance.

 

PHBP is the Pension, Hospitalization and Benefit Plan of the Electrical Industry.  The Plan is a self-insured employee welfare benefit Plan under which Participants are covered for certain services relating to their health and are eligible for certain other benefits. The Plan is maintained by a Joint Board of Trustees consisting of Trustees appointed by Local Union No. 3 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO (the “Union”) and employers under contract with the Union.
